Obituary of Elsa Mucignat

MUCIGNAT, ELSA CASIMIRA (Née Del Zotto) – It is with sadness that the family announces Elsa's passing on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Heritage Place in Virgil. Elsa was born in Cordenons, Italy and along with her daughters moved to Thorold in 1953 to join her husband. They later built a home "on the hill" in Merritton. Elsa spent most of her life in that home and she loved it dearly. Elsa is survived by her daughters Augusta "Auggie" McGloin and Nadia Morrison and sister Augusta Ongaro (Ernesto) of Buenos Aires. She was Nonna to 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ian), Daniel and Claire Morrison of Thunder Bay and Sara Swartz-Hawley (Steven) and Amanda Swartz of Toronto. She was Nonna Bisa to Jackson, Lily and Katie Gillies of Thunder Bay, and Angus and Alasdair Hawley of Toronto. Elsa will be missed by many nieces and nephews around the world. She was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered by many for her warm, knitted socks and her melt-in-your-mouth "Nonna Cookies". Elsa was predeceased by her husband Duvilio (1987), her son in law George McGloin (2005), her siblings Rina Tome of Buenos Aires, Luigia Canton of Genoa, Arisitde Del Zotto of San Francisco, and Amelia Cardin of Cordenons. Friends will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2 -4 PM and 7-9 PM. Vigil prayers will be recited at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 12 at 1 PM at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church 21 Queen Street South, Thorold. Entombment Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
